Information here is intended for affiliates who are advanced in their Internet Marketing Training. You should know how to surf the Internet, perform searches on Search Engines. You should be ready to setup your own website unless, you already have done that. If so, you are ready for more advanced affiliate training.

Opt-in List -  a list of people who have given you permission to send them information and offers. This is the "list" that is referred to by the phrase "the money is in the list."

By communicating relevant, helpful information to those on your list, you develop a relationship of trust. People will buy from those that they trust. So it is important that you respect your subscribers, by delivering helpful information that is relevant to the particular list they are on.

How to Build a List

1. Put a signup form on your homepage. Ask for first name and email address. You should require that they confirm their signup in order to protect yourself from Spam complaints. A malicious person, a competitor could cause you trouble by signing up people who they knew would complain. But requiring a confirmation would eliminate that possibility.

2. Put a signup form on every page of your website? Well, maybe not every page, but you want to make it really easy for someone to give you permission to send them information and offers. Instead of the actual form you could put just a link to a page that contained the form on other pages.

3. Use a popup with a signup form. Popups get attention but if they are not used judiciously, they can alienate your visitors. Set on up that avoids being stopped by most popup blockers and do it in good taste and you should be OK.

4. Offer something of value, delivered immediately. As an incentive for a visitor to your website to signup for a newsletter, offer her a new Special Report, an e-book or a simple piece of software.

5. Setup a Squeeze Page.  As the first page displayed on arriving at your site, require that the visitor's first name and email address be given and confirmed before allowing them to proceed. Many marketers use this with great success although you will lose some visitors who prefer not to give the information. If they believe that the site contains information that they really want, they will give you their information, in most cases.
